I don’t want to sound dramatic or anything but [insert Nemo-ism here]. Just kidding, I always mean to sound dramatic and the only reason I even care to name drop the impending snow-fish is because he’s totally commandeering my Friday evening Pilates class. Rude.
I’ll tell you what’s weather proof though: The always reliable sonic playground, which incidentally, is an excellent place to ride out a snowstorm. This week’s beat assembler is French-born producer, Joakim; an artist known for his experimental sounds and tendency to create and march to the beat of his own drum.
Mother Nature aside, I am getting hooked on on Joakim’s “Mystery Mix,” which shockingly enough carries an air of mystery. He traverses genres, languages, tones, tempos and god-knows-what-else, in his typically French way. Rain, shine or Nemo, this mix hits the spot. For those of you brave enough to venture out for a little late night dance sesh, you can catch him at RISE alongside local faves: Doctor Jeep, Alan Manzi and Matty Garvis.
